Lyre Bird is a very comfortable accommodation pretty far away from civilization. It was fun for my wife and me to stay there. It is comforting that the owners are in the big house just up the hill which was not completely clear from the info I had. Cell phones did work but very slowly and intermittently. Don't expect to stream movies, but the house had quite a library of DVDs which we enjoyed while there. Owners are both interesting folk and came down one evening the spotlight and identify the wombat just between our houses. What fun!

Ideal getaway for people looking for a quiet time away from the city. Lovely hosts and a nice secluded spot for some time around the pot belly fireplace

Beautfiful location - cozy home.
Very comfortable massive bed. The property was beautiful, eclectic furnishing made it so cosy and welcoming. Hosts were lovely - cute friendly dogs.

The agent Weekenda took over the renting experience. They were helpful and kept in touch.

My partner and I stayed for a few nights in winter and it was quiet, relaxing and absolutely beautiful! Loved the history of the house and the owners are extremely accomodating. Heated blankets, board games and endless DVDs to choose from was just what we needed!
- Sussan
Peter and Di were wonderful hosts, very welcoming and always happy to share knowledge of their beautiful property. Lyrebird studio was very cosy an dwell equipped, and in such a stunning setting. We especially enjoyed all the bird life and seeing a wombat on the lawn during the night. We would recommend for any nature lovers or just after a peaceful getaway. We will definitely be back.

Exceptional
The studio cabin was cozy and very comfortable. Peter and Di made sure to incorporate any little creature comfort to add to the experience.

Lyrebird studio was all we could have wanted and more! Location was so secluded and away from everything, the country escape we were wanting. The studio was well stocked with all the kitchen amenities we needed as well as a few toiletries in the bathroom that we thought were a lovely touch. Also want to point out how fantastic the DVD collection was! The grounds were perfect for exploring, the owners who live behind let us know they were there in case we needed anything. Oh and the dogs were super friendly! Thanks for the stay lyrebird studio! We will be back!

We had a wonderful time escaping the city listening to the cicadas and enjoying Peter’s stories. The lyrebird studio is a cosy place and very clean. We will recommend this lovely spot to all our friends.

An amazing, quiet night away with wildlife right by your door. It is like living at a home away from home! Such a friendly host, who makes us feel so welcome. 100% recommend.

Great Stay!
"We stayed for two nights at the Lyrebird Studio in Ellalong. The cabin was clean and comfy and the host Peter, was super friendly and there to greet us and give us a quick run-through of how everything worked upon our arrival. We would stay at Lyrebird Studio again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends."

We loved our stay at Lyre Bird Studio. It was so peaceful and tranquil- such a calming setting if you need some down time away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It was off the beaten track, but close enough to the wine country, that you felt that you didn't have to drive too far to visit other attractions or top wineries.
Really lovely hospitality and from the owners.

Lovely spot, quite isolated but only a 20 minute drive to the Hunter Valley. Check in and check out was very simple. The hosts are beautiful people and the paintings in the accommodation, painted by Diana, we’re stunning. We had a wonderful stay and would go back in a heart beat.

We were fortunate enough to stay at 405 Wallaby Gully Road, Ellalong and if you are looking for a place that is absolutely breathtaking and beautiful, this is it! An amazing experience with the wildlife basically at your door step as well as it’s so secluded from the chaos of the world, which personally was exactly what I was looking for. So peaceful, relaxing and definitely a time to soul search! The history behind the house and the nature around it is incredible and I am so blessed to have experienced it. The small touches around the house were extremely helpful and the paintings as well were beautiful. Pete and Di have done an outstanding job on their house. There is heaps of privacy out here and so much room. It was wonderful waking up in the morning and hearing the sounds of all sorts of birds chirping/singing away. It was also extremely comforting knowing that Pete & Di were a house behind us (up the hill) just in case we were in need of anything. I would 100% recommend this beautiful place to anybody and everybody! I am so used to being on social media and was kinda iffy knowing that I might not have it, but truthfully I forgot I even had a phone majority of the time! There is so much to see and enjoy out here that you forget about the little things in life. You will not be disappointed going here, would most definitely stay again! Thanks so much Pete & Di, you guys have truly outdone yourselves.

Beautiful rural setting, well-designed and well-equipped cottage with a rustic theme, friendly and helpful owners.- Jeff M
What a wonderful, beautiful place. Di and Peter were exceptional hosts, respectful of my need for solitude whilst keeping up my obsessive/pyro need to continually feed ‘fatso’ with wood. I was so very warm, comfortable and felt very safe. If you need a break, this is the place to go. Didn’t want to leave.
- Viki
Lovely place to enjoy, very peaceful with the charming company of wombats and kangaroos
- Amy
Peter and Di's place has some incredible features, including a 300-year-old fig tree next to the cottage and gorgeous pups Barney and Sally. We had a lovely short stay.

The Lyrebird is absolutely charming and perfectly described. The property itself is beautiful and we enjoyed exploring a little of the 120 acres. Diana and Peter were the kindest hosts. Absolutely recommend The Lyrebird if you are looking for a lovely serene place to go and disconnect from technology. Thank you for an amazing weekend. Will miss Barney and Fatso dearly.
